Services Performed
- PERFORM MULTI-POINT INSPECTION
- See note below.
- Technician first started with addressing the engine misfire codes, vehicle had a random misfire codes. Technician inspected spark plugs and ignition coils. Found that the misfire was stemming from the one of the 6 ignition coils in the vehicle. Technician moved the coil from Cylinder #1 to Cylinder #2 and found that the misfire followed to that cylinder. Technician recommends replacing all 6 spark plugs and at least 1 ignition coil. Replacing all 6 would be best as other could begin to fail in the future. Technician then began looking into the engine coolant temperature codes and found that the thermostat is sticking and setting the plausibility code found in the system. Technician recommend replacing the thermostat and re-testing. Additionally there are other codes present in the system which may need to be addressed next, however we need to begin with solving the misfire and temperature codes as they could be related or a result of the present issues. After repair and extensive test driving vehicle drives good and does not have a check engine light on at this time. Vehicle did still have 0521, and 0946 tumble flap short circuit, and catalytic converter efficiency low. the tumble flap system is related to the secondary air injection system for cold engine start efficiency. and converter code could be related to both that and possible damage done by misfire. At this time recommend driving as normal, should check engine light return more diagnoses into these code may need to be address. Advised customer.
